- 1 Peter 1:2: “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” Now notice: Peter doesn’t present three separate divine persons. He shows the one plan of salvation by the one God in three operations—Father (purpose), Spirit (application), Jesus Christ (the manifested sacrifice).
- 1 Peter 1:10–12: The prophets had “the Spirit of Christ” in them, testifying of His sufferings and the glory after. The same passage says the message is now preached “with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven.” The Spirit of Christ in the prophets is the Holy Ghost sent down. One Spirit, different titles—so it’s not two Spirits or a second person; it’s the one God’s Spirit.
- 1 Peter 1:19–21: We are redeemed “with the precious blood of Christ… who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you; who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory.” The Son was foreordained and then manifested—Sonship has its manifestation in time. God raised Him and gave Him glory—showing the indwelling Deity (the Father) vindicated the manifested body (the Son).
- 1 Peter 1:3: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” That’s the unseen God above us, the very One who was in Christ reconciling the world. The body is the Son; the indwelling is God.
