Why Would God Create People Who Will Never Be Saved?
1) Direct answer
God did not create people “to damn them.” He created to fulfill His eternal purpose: to reveal His mercy on those He saves and His justice upon those who reject the light. The Bible shows election—some are His sheep and will come—and it also shows vessels that refuse the truth. God, the Potter, is sovereign; none who truly come to Him are ever turned away, yet not all are His.
2) Scriptural explanation
- Chosen before the foundation: “He hath chosen us in Him… having predestinated us” (Ephesians 1:4-5). “As many as were ordained to eternal life believed” (Acts 13:48).
- Sheep and unbelievers: Jesus said, “All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me… and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). “No man can come to Me, except the Father… draw him” (John 6:44). And again, “Ye believe not, because ye are not of My sheep” (John 10:26-28).
- Wheat and tares: The Son of Man sowed good seed, but “an enemy” sowed tares; both grow together till harvest (Matthew 13:24-30, 37-43). God planted the wheat; He permits the tares.
- Book of Life: There are names written from the foundation of the world, and there are those “not written” (Revelation 13:8; 17:8).
- God’s purpose in vessels: “Hath not the potter power over the clay… to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?”—to show His wrath and make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy (Romans 9:20-24).
- Responsibility of man: Men “loved darkness rather than light” (John 3:19). Some “received not the love of the truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). They stumble “being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed” (1 Peter 2:8).
- God’s heart toward His own: He is “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9)—to the “us” He calls and keeps.
3) Simple clarifying logic
- Now notice, the Bible does not say all will be saved; it says many go the broad way and few find the narrow way. If God intended to save everyone the same, why speak of sheep and goats, wheat and tares, vessels of mercy and vessels of wrath?
- You see, God must express all His attributes. If there were no lost, how could He be known as Saviour? If no Pharaoh, how would His power be declared? (Romans 9:17)
- Yet God never turns away a true seeker. The ones who come are those the Father draws; the ones who are lost love darkness and refuse His Word. Sovereignty does not cancel responsibility, and man’s rejection does not frustrate God’s purpose.
4) Reinforcing statement
If you hear His voice today, that’s His drawing. Believe the Word, come to Christ, and you will find your name was always in His mind. He loses none of His own.
