What Is the Evidence That God Exists?
1) Direct Answer
Yes. God’s existence is plainly shown. The Bible says He has made Himself known in creation, in conscience, in His Word, in Jesus Christ risen from the dead, and by the present witness of the Holy Spirit.
2) Scriptural Explanation
- Creation declares Him
- “The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1).
- “The invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen… even His eternal power and Godhead” (Romans 1:20).
- “Every house is builded by some man; but He that built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:4).
- Conscience and the moral law
- The law is written in the heart; conscience bears witness (Romans 2:15).
- God set eternity in man’s heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
- He is not far from any of us, that we should seek Him (Acts 17:27-28).
- The Scriptures and fulfilled prophecy
- God declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:9-10).
- The prophets spoke by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:21).
- The promised Messiah: His birth (Micah 5:2), His suffering (Psalm 22; Isaiah 53), fulfilled in Jesus (Luke 24:44).
- Jesus Christ—God manifested and risen
- “God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).
- Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, seen by many witnesses (1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Acts 2:32).
- The Holy Spirit’s present witness
- The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit (Romans 8:16).
- God confirms His Word with signs following (Mark 16:20; Hebrews 2:4).
- New birth changes lives: “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- Prayer answered and bodies healed (James 5:15; Mark 11:24; Psalm 34:6).
3) Simple Clarifying Logic
- Design requires a Designer. Order, law, and life do not rise from nothing. If every house has a builder, how much more the universe (Hebrews 3:4).
- A moral law in the heart points to a Moral Lawgiver. If there is no God, why does conscience accuse and excuse?
- Prophecy is God’s signature. Men cannot foretell centuries ahead with precision; God can and did.
- An empty tomb and transformed witnesses point to a living Christ, not a dead religion (1 Corinthians 15).
- A dead idol cannot answer, but the living God answers prayer, breaks bondage, and fills with the Holy Spirit. You see the effect because the Cause is real.
4) Reinforcing Statement
If you will seek Him, you will find Him. The Bible says, “Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Come to Him in repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and God will make Himself known to you.
